Daffodil Tag Card

Posted by: Gemin General, Projects

I didn’t have time to make a card today. Really. Or that’s what my practical mind was telling me last night before I went to bed. My creative mind wanted to see what’s the Thursday challenge at SplitcoastStampers, and my practical mind let me. Mistake 1. Oooh, the theme is your birthmonth flower or stone! I wonder what mine is? A daffodil! Hmm… creative mind is thinking, if I were to make a card, it would be cute to make a 3D paper daffodil… I wonder if there are instructions on how to make one? Practical mind is saying, it’s time for bed! Creative mind went on Google and searched. Mistake 2.

Oh look, here’s an interesting one and here’s another with instructions! Practical mind says, well, you don’t have those punches she used, so off to bed! Creative mind is thinking, wait, you can use a circle punch to make it look like a leaf – like this:

Creative mind is on a roll now: for the center, just use the scallop border punch and roll the punched border into a small cone! Practical mind yawns, taps creative mind on the shulder and says, it’s way past your bedtime, besides, there’s a kid who’s coughing again and probably needs you… That kid kept me up half the night with his coughing, and creative mind would not let practical mind sleep either, it kept on and on about how nice the card would look with a paper-pierced frame, and it would be quick to make because it’s only going to be a 4-inch square card! It’s practically all done in my head, all you have to do is assemble it – says creative mind; practical mind sighs.

So today, even though practical mind had errands and stuff to do (besides being sleepy), it had to give in to creative mind and devote about half an hour to make the card above, take pictures and post on SplitcoastStampers and this blog.

Here is a close up of the daffodil:

Papers used are from Bazzill – Hillary green and Capers, 2 shades of yellow scrap cardstock I found in my stash, and Recollections – white linen cardstock; Offray ribbon, Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive glue, mounting tape, paper-piercing template from Gem’s Cottage, one-inch MS circle punch, EK Success Scalloped Scallop border punch.

Practical mind: Are we done now?

Creative mind: Yes! And quit being grumpy!

Practical mind: Well, if someone let me sleep last night…

Creative mind: Not my fault, kid kept waking you up…

Practical mind: But you didn’t stop nagging me after I woke up!

Hmmm… I’d better go before my husband commits me to the institution, LOL!

Daffodils are the true sign of Spring, aren’t they? Well my friend you have captured the essence of them PERFECTLY! This is absolutely gorgeous, and I do believe that sometimes we creative people work better on less sleep than others…haha!

Peace & Luv,
