Jen’s challenge today is to use ribbon scraps – and have I got a lot of those! Ribbons from presents and packaging never gets thrown away in our house – ever! The kids know this so well that it is already automatic for them to hand me ribbons after they’re done opening presents or packages. Most of them get reused but yes, there are still scraps, and I save them all!

I usually don’t post this late in the day – I mean night – but I ran into trouble with this card. It started after looking through the lovely inspiration website that Audrie chose, Country Curtains, and this particular picture caught my eye. I really like that cobalt blue binding on the scalloped floral valance!

This card is a remake of one I did two years ago – and I didn’t post it here (don’t ask me why – I forgot already, LOL!). I thought it was perfect for the trendy colors chosen by LeAnne ( Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Wisteria Wonder) at The Paper Players this week. At the same time, I thought that it would be nice to make it a gate fold card, which was Sabrina’s (Cook22) Challenge for Thursday at SplitcoastStampers.

I’m kinda giggling at the title of this post – who wouldn’t want an Awesome Yacht? I wanted to post this fast and couldn’t come up with a more appropriate title.

I wanted to capture the light, airy feel of a meadow in spring, with blooms of delicate wildflowers, and decided that the best way to do this will be to do it with simple straight stitches. For this card, I cut a 2″ x 3″ piece of watercolor paper and sponged it with Dandelion and Lady Bug inks from Memento, misting it a bit to make the colors blend evenly. After it has dried, I used two strands of embroidery thread and followed the pattern below, using green for leaves and white for flowers. (Click on the image to enlarge it then right-click to save into your computer.)

“Hi, Doris, my daughter has a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday and I might not be on time to pick up my son, can you please pick him up on that day?”
“Ummm, Joyce, did Jerry bring home a copy of the Math homework? Can you please e-mail it to me? Thanks!”
“OMG, I forgot that it’s minimum day today! Is Matthew with you? Oh, thank goodness! I’m on my way to pick him up!”
“Can you please check if Audrey has the notes for their Science test?”
“Do you have a copy of the study guide for Social Studies? William forgot to bring it home.”

It’s sizzling hot outside, with temps in the high 90’s again, so I’m staying inside where there’s air conditioning…forcing myself to think cool, which is why I made this card. Yeah…blue…glitter…winter…snowflakes… well, it is kinda working, lol!

Pirate Treasure Hunt

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning here in Southern California, although it will be in the high nineties again later today. I’m posting this card while the house is quiet (everyone but me is still snoring happily, lol), this is the best time of the day to write and be creative.

This card was inspired by the Tuesday Teapotters at Splitcoaststampers, and by Cindy(Mothermark) who makes cards based on her teapot collection. The teapotters make cards and send them to someone who needs cheering up, and for this week, our cards are going to Janet in Texas.
