Turn a plain canning jar into a fabulous candle lamp by just adding a lampshade! Use pretty patterned papers, cardstock in beautiful colors, and use your border punches for a lacy edge.
This project uses a½ pint canning jar (or any similar-sized jar), with tea lights or battery operated candles. The lampshade is easy to assemble (photo instructions included), top diameter of finished lampshade is 2 5/8" and bottom diameter is 4½".
For lampshades with the scallop edge, a corner rounder punch with removable guard was used to achieve this effect - a template shows exactly where to punch. The lampshades with a lacy edge were done with border punches (yes, a straight border punch may be used on a curved edge!). A template, guidelines, and instructions show you how simple it is.
Note: This will work only with 2-inch straight border punches. To check if your border punch will work, punch on a piece of paper and measure the width of the punched area (refer to picture). If it measures 2 inches, then you can use your border punch for this project.
